A police officer is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being shot by masked men in Omagh. The senior officer was shot multiple times in front of young people he had been coaching at a sports centre just before 8pm in Co Tyrone. Liam Kelly, chair of the Police Federation for Northern Ireland, which represents rank and file officers, described the attack as "barbaric and cold-blooded".
