Opinion: Alberta’s 2023-24 budget is likely to be a positive story for the province

Alberta Finance Minister Travis Toews (rear) waits to deliver the budget in Edmonton on Feb. 27, 2020. But Ms. Smith still tapped Mr. Toews to be Alberta’s Finance Minister, the same job he held when he resigned from cabinet to run in what was a fraught five-month UCP contest. This is, of course, not a bad budget for a Finance Minister to be presiding over. Still, Alberta’s 2023-24 budget is likely to be a good news story. But Mr. Toews is not making his intentions known yet, indicating he will speak to the election further down the road: “I’m focused on preparing the budget.”

Against that backdrop, Netanyahu did not feature in many American Jewish organizations’ statements. A number of regional Jewish organizations and rabbis have previously called for boycotts of far-right coalition members if and when they tour the United States.

The “agriculture and allied activities” clocked a robust growth in GVA of 4.6% during H1FY23, despite delayed monsoon and kharif sowing activities. The likelihood of scorching summer heat could be damaging for the wheat crop which has just the entered flowering stage. For the current crop year (2022-23), the government has estimated a record wheat harvest of 112.18 MT. Total area planted with wheat crop has risen by only 0.13 million hectare (MH) to 34.32 MH in the current crop year from the year-ago period.
