(Photo: AP)JOHN Motson, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) football commentator who was one of the most well-known voices in British sport for 50 years, has died. Fondly referred to as Motty, Motson called games for Britain's national broadcaster from 1968-2018, covering 10 World Cups, 10 European Championships, and 29 FA Cup finals. He commentated on almost 2,500 televised games, the BBC said, before retiring at the end of the 2017-18 English Premier League season. His final Premier League match was Crystal Palace's 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at Selhurst Park, London, in May 2018.

SCOTT... delaying will see us moving closer towards the constitutional duty for a general election. MONTEGO BAY, St James — Political commentator Shalman Scott has raised concern over the viability of the Government's decision to postpone the local government election. According to Scott, the decision, which will see the Local Government Election being delayed until February 28, 2024, may be troublesome, as Jamaicans are expected to vote in a general election in 2025. So what is happening is that delaying this parish council election will see us moving closer towards the constitutional duty for a general election," Scott said. At the same time, Scott told the Sunday Observer that this one year delay will not achieve what the Government is seeking to do for the Jamaican economy.

Two Dunkirk sites become part of state Birding Trail

New York state Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos announced the addition of seven new locations to the New York State Birding Trail, including two in Dunkirk. These new locations bring the total number of birding trail locations across the state to 332, providing a variety of quality birding experiences for New Yorkers and visitors to enjoy. “The New York State Birding Trail provides access to exceptional birding and a high-quality, sustainable opportunity to experience nature,” Seggos said. DEC manages the New York State Birding Trail in collaboration with partners that include the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. With 332 locations, the Statewide Birding Trail provides birding opportunities for everyone, regardless of age, ability, identity, or background, across New York State.

The Women in Leadership (YWiL) parliamentary sitting was staged in partnership with ParlAmericas and the Caribbean Women in Leadership (CWiL), through the Ministry of Gender Affairs. Young women who participated in the Women in Leadership (YWiL) parliamentary sitting on Tuesday staged in partnership with ParlAmericas and the Caribbean Women in Leadership (CWiL), through the Ministry of Gender Affairs. Among the arguments made by the young women on that side was that in order for real change to occur, instead of allocating resources to top-down plans and policies, social workers should be deployed into communities to have sessions with young women, girls, and young men and boys. Improvements proposed to county’s waterway trails

Chautauqua County is looking to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop a master plan and make some needed improvements on the county’s waterway trails. He said there is a master plan in place, but it’s several decades old and needs updating. Leenders said the CWC helped clear out debris from the Conewango Creek in Kennedy where there had been some casualties. The Cassadaga Creek runs from the Cassadaga Lakes until it converges with Conewango Creek. The Chadakoin River, Chautauqua Lake’s outlet, journeys across Jamestown and Falconer, joining Cassadaga Creek at the community of Levant.
