World leaders have sent their congratulations to Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as the country marks its second-ever Saudi Founding Day. The Saudi Founding Day falls on February 22 and commemorates the establishment of the Saudi state. The Founding Day was first celebrated last year and as per a royal decree has become an annual public holiday. History depicted through art is one of the ways in which the Founding Day will be marked. UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain sign 12 industrial agreements worth $2 billion

February 27, 2023DUBAI — Companies from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt and Bahrain signed industrial agreements with an investment value of over $2 billion at the third Higher Committee Meeting of the Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development in Amman on Sunday. Twelve agreements were signed for nine industrial projects in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, metals, chemicals and electric vehicles, according to the governmental Jordan News Agency, Petra. The project will establish three electric vehicle factories with specialized production and assembly lines in the UAE, Jordan and Egypt. At an investment value of $174 million over two phases, the project’s production capacity is expected to reach 350 million pills per year. Last year the annual event took place in Cairo, where 12 projects worth $3.4 billion were announced.

Biden orders door-to-door visits after toxic US train derailment

United States President Joe Biden on Friday has directed federal agencies to go door-to-door in East Palestine, Ohio, on Friday to check on families affected by the toxic train derailment that has morphed into a heated political controversy. Russia sends Soyuz rescue ship to International Space Station

Russia has launched an uncrewed Soyuz spacecraft on a rescue mission to return two cosmonauts and a NASA astronaut whose trip back to Earth has been hampered after their original space vehicle was damaged by a mini meteorite while parked at the International Space Station (ISS). The Soyuz MS-23 vessel blasted off successfully from the Russian-operated Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Friday, live video broadcast by ISS partner NASA showed. The uncrewed Soyuz MS-23 spacecraft lifted off at 7:24pm ET on a two-day journey to the space station to replace the MS-22 that experienced a coolant system leak in December 2022.
